1a) Both translated and original are needed and might be sufficient. As of my knowledge, they are issuing them in local language and English currently in my native place.
1b) DOB Cert by itself from the Consul's office will not be sufficient.
1c) Every 485 applicant needs DOB certificate. So your wife does.
3a) It depends on a variety of things like if you had chicken pox before or not. If you had been to school in US and have any immunization record / some sort of health record you submitted to them when you came in, the doctor might accept it. AFAIK, It is a 1 hr process how ever appointments might be 2 weeks away :)
3b) Tests are valid for one year.

It mentions that in any of the incorrect filing, cases will be rejected...
does that mean I-485 is rejected for good or one cannot apply it again until PD becomes current in future?

In that case I apologize. But of late there has been a spate of such suspicious activity. Look at the number of new threads opened about people being sent back by accounts with only 1 post. Looks at the pointless argument going over between messers snram4 and u.misc. Check their history and make up your own mind. I cannot imagine someone with any semblance of maturity could engage in just hideously low level argument. So obviously there is an agenda at work. To each is own . One of friend is in a similar boat. While she was on her F1 she worked without authorization and since then she changed her status from F1 to F2 and finally to H4. Her husbands GC was approved, but hers wasn't. So now the attorney has filed for appeal based on 245K, as he feels that since she has left and country and re-entered it on multiple occasions on a different statuses the immigration officer should only look for inconsistencies in her application only from the time of last legal entry. Does this approach make sense. So what is her status now?

what is the fee for I-131 is it $305 or $385? do I need to pay for the biometric fee? I already have my FP done when I applied for I-485. I sent my I-485 before the fee increase so I have to pay each time I renew EAD or apply for Travel document. Please advise. Thanks

This is nothing compared to millions of illegals which mostly would not be high skill workers.

If you don't have a job on H1-B then you are not in legal status within this country. This may come back to haunt you during future 485 processing and approval. That's where an EAD is good in that it allows you to remain in legal status even when you don't have a job for a certain period of time.
ok got it. so its better to jump on EAD whenver you feel the fear of being jobless for a long time. that way no problem if jobless for certain time.
only con is if something wrong happens to 485, we are screwed!!
one more question very complicated -
if i jump to EAD, what would be my wife status?? i already filed 485 & planning to marry next year & bring spouse on h4.
i dont see EB2 my PD becoming current for next 2-3 years
any inputs are appreciated??

My 140 was in TSC and recently got transfered to NSC,where my 1-485 is pending.
At this point I dont think my employer revoked 140 .(pretty much sure)
If it is cleaning up files ,then why Pending again ,this is what is making me worried.

(I invoked AC 21 and also got RFE last August when my PD was current momentarily for which i responded back with EVL(employment verification letter) .
Any thoughts.

Thanks for the quick reply, Krishna. I would infact get paid in INR in an Indian account. But what do we do when we file our taxes? When my husband files as "married filed jointly", do we declare this income? Do you have any inputs on that.

In my case, H1B already expired. I have used it for 7 years. Now I am on EAD after 7 years of H1B.
In that case you are going to file H1-B based on your 140 approval..Since you are in 7th year..you may get 2 years of H1-B.. it would be good back up for your 485..you know these days employers are doing crazy things and USCIS is making mistakes and i have also noticed your PD , may 2007 so we have a long way to go on this ship..
