This is a little disappointing that Steve is confirming to keynote MWSF 2007 when it's just October, which means he probably wants us to wait (I hope not). :(
Besides, hasn't Steve keynoted MWSF every year?
MWSF needs confirmation for thier marketing materials.
I still believe that there will be some type of announcement, on something, before Thanksgiving.

And why is this on mac rumors.
Does it really matter what the competition does.
Because now they're doing this, it's only a matter of time before they turn their heads to iOS?

I am writing this to convey my disappointment with Consohohocken, PA Bestbuy store.
On 4/9/2011 evening 9 PM, I was told by a store rep that they were going to give out IPAD 2 on 4/10/2011 (sunday) at 11 AM and was suggested to be in line around 9 AM.
This was also told to couple of other customers who showed up at the store even at 8 AM on 4/10/2011.
But when the store opened, we were told that there were no IPAD's available.
This is very disappointing behavior from Bestbuy.
Best buy, you have lost my business for good. Of course, it may not matter to you that you lost the business of few customers.
I agree that making a decision to go wait in the front of the store is the decision made by the customer. But if Bestbuy is exploiting customers like this, they are not too far away from going down.

Would love a larger screen if they can maintain the same body size. I have no interest in something like the giant PDA-sized Android phones.

I can see how this update will have "battery life improvements" now that the phone is not going to be tracking our movements 24/7 even when all location services are shut off.

Again, if you want to solve the security problem, excess scanners is not the answer; profiling is. It's not that hard.
What security problem?
You know what kills more Americans than terrorism every year? Peanut allergies. Swimming pools. Deer running in front of cars.
Pat downs, body scanners, and TSA in generally are about "security theater." The government puts on a big show so the poor little sheep who are afraid of the big bad muslim wolves feel better.
So how about we all stop letting politicians play on our fears, stop feeding money to the contractors who design useless crap like body scanners and stop giving up constitutional rights all in the name of preventing a "danger" that's significantly less likely to kill you than a lightning strike.

Everyone please be careful opening Quicktime (to do an "open url..." as MacRumors recommends)! If you have it set to load the 'content guide' on startup, there's a spoiler image waiting for you.
(Yeah, I know, I should have disabled it a long time ago.)

It's too early to compare those two OS.
I like using both OS X and Windows. I am not impressed with Lion so far. (From what I have read, as I haven't try it). I hope Apple has same surprises to show in the WWDC.
I am really looking forward to see what Ubuntu can achieve till next year. I am not sure if I like the new Unite shell but I agree that Ubuntu needs to create something new and stop copying OS X and Windows.

I find it amusing that the G1 can run Android Gingerbread fairly well, but Apple makes it impossible to upgrade the original iPhone to the latest and greatest iOS.

I hate to add to this whole tiresome "debate" but it does amuse me how a video of an iPhone 4 losing signal is proof *positive* of a design flaw whereas a similar video of a different smartphone is no proof at all!
I have an iPhone 4, its the best phone I have ever had and by a mile! I'm happy with it and frankly I'm pretty much sick and tired of folks telling me I'm mad or stupid for saying so!

Yes there does seem to be a double standard when it comes to online video credibility.

I never saw the light till 10.4.
On March 24, the iMac was less than three years old, the iPod was still more than six months away, and Macs ran at astounding speeds of up to 733MHz. But most importantly, Apple on that day released the first official version of Mac OS X, changing the future of its platform forever. My Dell Dimension 4100 from April 2001 was running a 933MHz PIII. Not sure how fast it was compared to a G3.

Methinks you don't have a good grasp of public key encryption. (Or at least how it's supposed to work).
It seems that you got encryption and decryption mixed up.

I have already used 220GB on music / movie / photo
I dont want to use over 20 DVD DL to backup.... its terrible
so, give me Blu-ray disc please, Steve.
currently, a BD-RW drive cost around $1000usd
if Mac equip with this monster drive, the price must increase by more or less $1000....so, does Apple waiting for a drop in price for drives?

What did you think they would do, rummage through all the non-app store apps on the Mac platform? Lol, some people are ridiculous.
Are you new to the design awards? They have existed for years without the App Store. It used to to be that you would submit your app to Apple prior to WWDC. Why would an App Store be required?

With my flame suit on, i say this...
I might have done the same thing as the OP.
Regarding the kid, well, its probably a part time job for him. Furthermore, how much can BestBuy possibly be paying him? He could probably earn more if he worked else where. :)
Truth be told alot of people in this thread would've. People are quick to say what they will and won't do AFTER the situation, but had the opportunity presented not many would've passed on it.

And for me it comes full circle....
I couldn't believe it today when I checked my profile that I've been a member here for nearly a year. But it makes sense - Jobsie keynoting MWSF 2006 was front page news when I joined.
Here's to another great MacWorld :)

The world is NOT just the US... It's a mansion by any worldly measure.
But he is building this house in the US, which apparently defines "mansion" as 8,000 sq ft or more.
